Hammersmith Management’s 2016 Year in Review

Hammersmith Management’s 2016 Year in Review

As 2016 comes to a close, we can’t help but reflect on what a year it’s been for all of us here at Hammersmith. From anniversaries to acquisitions to awards and much more, we’ve had an incredible year here at HMI, and look forward to 2017 with nothing but promise! Here are some of the highlights from our year.

John Hammersmith elected President-Elect of the Board of Trustees

Our CEO is starting his new year off right with the beginning of his term as the President-Elect of the Community Association Institute’s Board of trustees! John Hammersmith was elected in May of this year and begins his term as President-Elect tomorrow, January 1st, and will serve his term as President beginning in January 2018.

“Through a variety of both formal and informal roles within the organization, I’ve been honored to play a role in CAI’s evolution over the years,” said John after learning of his election. “As CAI’s next President-Elect, I will dedicate myself to illustrate a blended approach of both servant and host leadership skills.”

Congratulations, John!

35th Anniversary

One of the biggest pieces of Hammersmith news of the year: we celebrated our 35th year in business in March! It’s so hard to believe HMI started as a small Association accounting firm in 1981, because our business has since grown to include so much more.

Over the last 35 years, we’ve expanded our services to include Community Management, construction services, lifestyle and event planning services, IT and web offerings, in-house newsletter production and mailing, document and policy services, and a number of other additions in order to provide the best service we possibly can to our Communities. We’re really proud of the company we’ve become, and we can’t wait to see what 2017 holds for us!

Hammersmith Management Acquires HRCA Management Services Group

In June, HMI completed the acquisition of all of the Sub-Associations that had previously been managed by Highlands Ranch Community Association (HRCA).

“This is another exciting expansion in Colorado,” John Hammersmith said of the acquisition. “We are proud to have served several communities in Highlands Ranch for some time, and this is a natural fit for us. We understand and appreciate the partnership with the master association, Highlands Ranch Community Association, and we are committed to providing platinum service to the residents of Highlands Ranch.”

The acquisition added more licensed Community Association Managers and team members to the more than 285 employees we have in Colorado, and increased the total number of Hammersmith-managed Associations to well over 250.

Denver Post Top Work Places

The Denver Post recognized HMI for the third year in a row for being a top place to work. We believe in creating an environment where all employees can grow and succeed, and we’re so proud to earn this achievement recognizing us for our efforts. In 2017 we’re continuing to expand our range of Team Member benefits, and we’re so excited to continue making Hammersmith a Top Place to Work.

Scott Ellison Wins Manager of the Year Award, Flying Horse HOA wins Community of the Year Award

One of our Managers had a particularly great year: Scott Ellison. Scott one the prestigious national Manager of the Year award in the On-Site category, and Flying Horse HOA, the Community Scott manages, won CAI Rocky Mountain Chapter’s Community of the Year Award! We’re so proud of Scott’s achievements, and we can’t wait to see what 2017 holds for him.

Additionally, three other Hammersmith Managers were also in the running for the Manager of the Year award, making the top 10 finalist group in their respective categories: On-Site Managers and Portfolio Managers. Nickie Greco and Timothy Bennett joined Scott in the top 10 On-Site Managers category, and Amy Bowman placed as a top 10 finalist in the Portfolio category.

Additionally, Timothy Bennett is a Stage 1 finalist again in this year’s contest, and so are Evelyn Saavedra and Jessica Garrison, all in the On-Site category!

All of us are so proud of these Managers’ achievements, and we can’t wait to see what 2017 holds.
